Conflict has forced the migration of thousands from East Africa, many now residing in the UK.
Several generations have now passed since Somali and Sudanese nationals fled the violence in east Africa to settle in the UK. The South West city of Bristol has become home to a large number of these communities with the influence from a variety of cultures particularly visible in the east of the city.
As these communities raise families of their own in an adopted nation, this series seeks to explore how the identity of ancestry fits with the 2nd and 3rd generation children born to a different land. What happens to the identity of the settler altered by so many years away?
